Childfree Abby - Stop Nagging11 August 2006Message ID: 12dp3gb8f3cd157@news.supernews.com
DEAR ELLIE: I have a beautiful, successful daughter who has gained weight over the past three years. She's a professional, working in an office, sitting most of the day. She likes to walk and do sports like bike, swim and ski. Every time I mention a weight-loss technique, she gets angry at me. We're good friends and I don't want to damage our friendship. -- CONCERNED MOM DEAR CONCERNED MOM: Every time you point out her weight gain, she hears that she has disappointed Mom. Drop the subject; this intelligent woman knows she has gained weight. It takes time for people to work up the resolve needed to get into weight reduction through better eating habits.
Dear Concerned, Allow me to make this short and sweet: what you deem to be "mentioning" is considered to be "nagging" at least by your daughter, the recipient of your "mentioning". No one has ever nagged a pound off any one. Period. Full stop. If you want to keep a good relationship with your daughter, the answer is simple:
Shut And that's it.
